Trish S. sent us this one in when she encountered the car at Expo 86 in Vancouver. The theme of the expo was transportation. The Teardrop was sitting along side of John Lennon's Rolls Royce. Next time you are in Victoria Trish, look us up and we will take you for a spin.
Len W. from Kingston Ontario sent us in this next group of pictures. Len was hunting through his old photos for his 50 year reunion and came across them. Thanks for keeping these safe all these years Len, they are priceless. These pictures were taken in the Kitimat BC area in 1968. The uniqueness of the above photo is the fin and the exhaust. We do not have an accurate record of when the fin was added, why it was added, or the before and after handling characteristics. The exhaust out the top is another feature that came and went. The exhaust system was most likely re-designed when the flathead was replaced with the 289.
The other interesting point of these pictures is the colour scheme of the era. Basil must have sat in front of the car for quite some time to come up with the flow of the curves that seem to work so well with the body features.
Obviously the bugs didn't care for the blunt nose shape of the car. Keep in mind that the turn signals you see with the arrow shape was very unique when the car was first put on the road. Thank you very much for scanning and submitting your photographs Len. Hopefully you will inspire other readers to contact us if they have any close encounters they would like to share.
